Chinese developer completes second £600m UK deal

Chinese property developer Greenland Group has bought its second development site in the UK, in a deal worth £600m.
 
The Hertsmere site in Canary Wharf, London, will create up to 700 new homes in one, 242 metre tower as well as retail, leisure and commercial space.
 
UK-based Commercial Estates Group is the development manager for the project.
 
Greenland Group bought its first UK site in January this year in Wandsworth, London. The £600m development will cover 7.75 acres and has planning consent for 661 homes and commercial space.
 
The Chinese developer has commercial and residential projects under construction in 80 cities throughout China as well as schemes in South Korea, Thailand, Australia and the US.
 
UK Greenland Group general manager Wenhao Qian, said: “‘The Greenland Group has put every effort into this very significant project, Hertsmere House.
 
“Located in the core area of Canary Wharf with convenient surrounding transportation links, a full range of retail and leisure facilities as well as the 242 metre landmark luxury residential tower, this project has been designed to appeal to both domestic UK purchasers in London and also worldwide.”
