With education on their minds and an eye for detail, increased numbers of buyers from China have been purchasing in the Orlando market, developers say.
At Encore Club at Reunion, more than a third of the community's 124 sales during the past 10 months have been to buyers from that country.
"My company has made a choice to go after the China buyers," said David Pisano, vice president of sales at the development southwest of Orlando.
Among other things, Encore has been represented at tradeshows in cities including Shanghai. Dan Andreacci, who oversees international sales for the development, said prospective buyers at the shows are educated and interested in paying cash.
"They're interested in education for their children and some will be buying for vacation purposes. They are extremely detail oriented and everything is done with numbers," Andreacci said.
In addition, he added, real estate in China has not performed well and buyers are seeking alternative investments.
